The values on the L3, L4, and L5-7 tabs report the aggregate processing measurements for bearer plane testing. The MN (client) side of the test is reported in the L3 Client, L4 Client, and L5-7 Client tabs and The Network (server) side is reported in the L3 Server, L4 Server and L5-7 Server tabs (measurements from the Network Host emulator used in the test). These measurements are available when Data Traffic is included in the test.
NOTES:
|
In the default view, the Reports tab displays the Summary view, which summarizes the measurements for the test session. If your test includes multiple test cases, you can view the report for a single test case by changing the report view...
Unless otherwise noted, cumulative values report the number of occurrences or rates calculated since the start of the test, and per-interval values report the number of occurrences or rates calculated during the interval. You can view either by changing the measurement values...
Elapsed Time is the first measurement on every tab. It reports the amount of time between the start of the test and the end of the report interval.
Test Iteration reports the current iteration in a repeating test session. It is only displayed when a Number of Iterations is defined for the test session.
The following measurements record all bearer plane traffic processed by the nodes, including the data, transport, and IP layers:
Total Packets Sent — The number of bearer plane packets sent.
Total Packets Sent/Sec — The number of bearer plane packets sent per second.
Total Packets Received — The number of bearer plane packets received.
Total Packets Received/Sec — The number of bearer plane packets received per second.
Total Packets — The total number of packets processed by the nodes.
Total Packets/Sec — The data throughput rate as of the previous interval in packets per second.
Total Packets Invalid — The number of packets received that contained an unknown protocol type or an invalid IP checksum, and any packets recorded by Command Messages Invalid.
Total Fragments Sent — The number of fragmented data packets sent. By default, fragmentation occurs when the total bytes in the data packet exceeds 1400 bytes. You can control fragmentation by defining the MTU.
Total Fragments Received — The number of fragmented packets received.
Total Fragmented Packets Received — The total number of fragmented packets received. For example, if one IP packet was broken up into 3 fragments, the counter considers it as 1 fragmented packet.
Total Non-Fragmented Packets Received — The total number of non-fragmented packets received. That is, Total Packets Received - Total Fragmented Packets Received.
Total Fragmented Packets Sent — The total number of fragmented packets sent. For example, if one IP packet was broken up into 3 fragments, the counter considers it as 1 fragmented packet.
Total Non-Fragmented Packets Sent — The total number of non-fragmented packets sent. That is, Total Packets Sent - Total Fragmented Packets Sent.
NOTE: When fragmentation occurs at the IP layer in packets sent by MNs, the receiving test server's OS will re-assemble the fragments and forward a re-assembled packet to the Network Host. In this case, the Network Host tab will not record Total Fragments Received, and the Total Packets Received and Total Bytes Received counters will record the counts for the re-assembled packets, not the fragmented packets. |

TCP/UDP Measurements
All TCP/UDP measurements are shown on L3 Server and L4 Server tabs.
The following measurements are available when a Data Verification test is run.
Data Verify Attempts — The number of data verification attempts made. Data verification is attempted for each established MN session.
Data Verify Successes — The number of successful data verification attempts.
Data Verify Failures — The number of unsuccessful data verification attempts. When this counter is incremented, Session Errors is also incremented.
Total Pings Sent — The number of Ping Requests and Ping Replies Sent by the UE or Network Host.
Total Pings Received — The number of Ping Requests Received by the UE or Network Host.
Total Ping Replies Received — The number of Ping Replies Received by the UE or the Network Host.
The basic data measurements are available on L5-7 Client|Basic tab when any of the basic data types (PING, RAW, UDP, and TCP) are used in a Continuous Data test.
The advance data measurements are available on the L5-7 Client|Advanced tab when any of the Advanced Data protocols are used in a Continuous Data test.
The following measurements are only reported on the L3 Server tab and they record all packets processed by the Network Host nodes regardless of protocol type. Normally, these measurements will equal the Summary Measurements unless an error condition exists.
Host Sent Packets
Host Received Packets
Host Sent Bytes
Host Received Bytes
Host Packets
Host Bytes
Host Invalid Packets Received
Host Packets/Sec
Host Bits/Sec
When you use an External Data Source, all bearer plane measurements are reported by the following counters on the L3 Client tab:
External Total Packets Sent — The number of packets sent by the external source.
External Total Packets Received — The number of packets received from the external source.
External Total Bytes Received — The number of bytes received from the external source.
External Total Bytes Sent — The number of bytes sent by the external source.

Total Sent Packets Discarded — The number of outgoing packets discarded.
Total Discarded Packets — The total number of packets discarded.
The following measurements on AMF Nodal, under the "gNB User Node" and "gNB Control Node" tabs and on UPF Node, under the "UPF N3 Node" tab, the following measurements measure the corresponding number of packets/bytes. The data packets, if URLLC is enabled, are duplicated and sent over the redundant tunnels and the same "GTP-U Sequence number" or "DL/UL QFI sequence number" or both is maintained for both the packets. Additional details in GTPU Tab .
When Dynamic IPSec is used to encrypt Diameter traffic, the following measurements provide general information regarding IPSec SA establishment. More detailed measurements can be found on the IPSec tab.
IPSec Tunnel Attempts — The number of times an MN or Network Host attempted to negotiate an SA with the other end.
IPSec Tunnel Successes — The number of successful SA negotiations.
IPSec Tunnel Failures — The number of failed SA negotiations.
IPSEC Unhandled Packets — The number of packets which should have been encrypted, but were not handled because no tunnel was found for it. (If the IP does not fall within the specified ranges of the Traffic Selectors, it will go unencrypted and unhandled).
