The Policy Distribution Function (PDF) is a logical function that enables interworking with 3GPP2 PCC framework and has the following characteristics:
The PDF is connected to the PCRF through Gx (Ty) reference point and from the PCRF’s point of view the PDF is the termination point of Gx (Ty) reference point.
The PDF hides the distributed nature and mobility of WiMAX enforcement points from the PCRF. The PDF is connected to the Anchor SFA in the ASN via PCC-R3-P interface and supports SFA relocation by decoupling PCC-R3-P sessions from Gx/Ty.
The PDF is the distribution point for the PCC rules between the ASN and the CSN; it proxies Gx (Ty) messages over PCC-R3-P .
With this test case, you define:
Whether the Ty interface uses RADIUS or Diameter signaling
Whether the PCRF is emulated or not
Policy and Charging Control Rule (PCC) requested by the Access Gateway (AGW) using PCRF
Optional/mandatory parameters in Ty messages (for RADIUS or Diameter protocol)
IP address for the PDF DUT
IP addresses for the emulated AGW and emulated PCRF
Number of simultaneous sessions to establish
Rate of session establishment
Duration of each session before initiating teardown
Measurements collected for this test case include:
Summary showing number of sessions established
Number of messages sent and received by interface (for example, number of Access Requests sent and number of Access Accepts received on Ty interface)
Error indications such as timeouts, error messages received, and failed sessions
In the WiMAX PCC framework, the Policy Function (PF) is replaced by the PCRF, which is connected to the PDF via the Gx/Ty reference point. The PCRF encompasses policy control decision and flow based charging control functionalities. The PCRF performs session binding (i.e., the association of the AF session information and applicable PCC rules to an IP-CAN session) and PCC rule authorization.
Use the SUT Query option to monitor the CPU utilization of an SUT, and determine the amount of activity that the SUT can handle within a given CPU threshold.
Measurements collected for the basic PDF Nodal test case are reported on the following tabs. Additional measurements may be available depending on the test activity and options executed with the test case.
