Graphing Measurements

Use the Measurement menu to display a measurement in two graphs. You can graph up to eight measurements (data points) on each Graph Tab at a time while the test is running or after it is complete, add delta between two selected measurements, copy a snapshot of the graph to your clipboard or save it to a file at any time the graph is visible, and force-reload measurements of a graph.

TIP: You can create more complex graphs by saving the report, and using Excel to graph the measurements.

To graph a measurement
  1. Select a Measurement tab in the Reports tab of the Test Session window.

  2. Right-click a measurement to display the Measurement menu.

NOTE: Graphing is not supported for a particular measurement, if the measurement is already included in the graph, or if eight measurements are already being graphed, the Graph option is not displayed.

  1. Select Add to Graph 1, Add to Graph 2, Add Graph 3 (Tab 3 Top), Add Graph4 (Tab 3 Middle) or Add Graph5 (Tab 3 Bottom). The selected Graph tab... is added to the Test Session window with the selected measurement plotted on the graph. The graph is refreshed every 5 seconds. The measurement legend indicates the measurement name and the color and axis used for that measurement.

NOTE: Clicking Add Graph3 (Tab 3 Top), Add Graph4 (Tab 3 Middle) or Add Graph5 (Tab 3 Bottom), adds charts on the same tab/page labeled Graphs 3-5 in the order specified in the parentheses.

You can include can be any measurement that can be graphed, on either or both the graphs tabs. If a measurement is on one graph tab, you can also add it to the other graph tab.  For example, you can graph Cumulative version of a measurement on one graph tab and P-I (per interval) version on the other graph tab.

  1. Click 0 always visible to Force Y-Axis to always show 0 on the baseline. You can right-click on the Y-axis column and choose to set all to left-axis or right axis.  You can set the default selections for these options in your Client Settings.

NOTES: When graphing a measurement from an individual Test Case, the label will include the ts::tc information in the label.  Summary measurements will not have any prefix. For example:

To Add Delta

Select the Add Delta Button or Right click to add delta between two measurement values.
To Reload Click to reload measurements to reset graph when interval changes.
To View Measurement Click to view information about the interval, time and value of all plotted lines including the delta value between the two measurements.

To remove a measurement

Click Remove button next to the measurement label. Another measurement can now be added to the graph.

To copy a graph Click on the Test Session window to select it if necessary, and then click the Copy button or press F9. The graph is copied to your clipboard and you can paste it into a document.
To save a graph

Graphs/Charts are automatically saved when you save the Test Session and are restored between runs.

You may also save a graph as an image to you local drive.

NOTES:

  • If you disconnect/Close a Test Session setup with a few graphed measurements and restart/reconnect, the test automatically rebuilds the chart with the same measurements.
  • If you open a Test Session saved with Graph/Chart and execute it, the graph/chart is initialized with your previous measurements.
  1. Click on the Test Session window to select it if necessary, and then click the Save button or press Shift-F9.

  2. Navigate to the location in which you want to save the graph in the Save Graph window.

  3. Enter a File Name.

  4. Select the file format from the Files of Type drop-down list. Portable Network Graphics (.png) and JPEG (.jpg) formats are supported.

  5. Click OK to save the graph or Cancel to cancel the save.
