S11/S5 Measurements

The values on the S11 and S5 tab report the bearer and user plane processing measurements in a SGW Nodal Test Case. Values on S11 tab apply when Serving Node is MME and values on S5 tab apply when the Serving Node is SGSN.

During MME Nodal Testing, S11, S10, S10 and S11 tabs reports the bearer and user plane processing measurements depending on your test selections:

Options on MME Nodal Test Configuration (test Activity is Inter-MME)

Tab name and processing measurements

Selected: SGW/PGW Node Emulation

SGW S11 measurements tab displays LTE GTP Bearer measurements (no Forward measurements)

Selected:

  • SGW/PGW Node Emulation
  • PGW and S10 Interface to MME

MME S10 & S11 measurements tab displays LTE GTP Bearer and Forward measurements.

(MME Node has Node and IP Instance measurements.)

  • Not Selected: SGW/PGW Node Emulation
  • Selected: S10 Interface to MME

MME S10 & S11 measurements tab displays LTE GTP Bearer and Forward measurements.

Measurement Values

In the default view, the Reports tab displays the Summary view, which summarizes the measurements for the test session. If your test includes multiple test cases, you can view the report for a single test case by changing the report view...

Unless otherwise noted, cumulative values report the number of occurrences or rates calculated since the start of the test, and per-interval values report the number of occurrences or rates calculated during the interval. You can view either by changing the measurement values...

Elapsed Time is the first measurement on every tab. It reports the amount of time between the start of the test and the end of the report interval.

Test Iteration reports the current iteration in a repeating test session. It is only displayed when a Number of Iterations is defined for the test session.

Message Counters

The following measurements record the number and types of messages exchanged during PDP context establishment, modification, and deactivation.

An MME sends a Modify Access Bearer Request message to an SGW as part of the UE triggered Service Request (if there is no suspended bearer for that UE).

The SGW sends a Modify Access Bearers Response message to an MME as a response to a Modify Access Bearers Request message.

NOTE: The Average Connect/Disconnect OMs on the S11/S5 tab are calculated based on how long it takes to establish the session. That is, the time between when a Create/Disconnect Session Request is sent and a Create/Disconnect Session Response is received. The time needed to bring up/down the bearers is not included in the S11/S5 Average Connect/Disconnect measurements. Hence, the OMs on the Test Summary tab are different than the OMs on the S11/S5 tab.

The Following Values on S11 tab apply when Serving Node is MME
