When you select a AAA Test that includes accounting transactions, you define a repeating cycle of accounting messages that connect and disconnect accounting sessions. If your test includes authentication, the accounting traffic begins as MN sessions are established; if not, the traffic begins when the test is started. You can enable a delay timer and define a delay time for the start of the cycle.
Use the parameters below to define the amount of time the accounting session is maintained, and the amount of time to wait before starting the next cycle. You can also choose whether to use Accounting Request - Interim Update messages and specify the frequency of the messages. All of the cycle timers operate independently for each MN session in order to present the SUT with a mix of activities at any given time.
NOTES:
|
You can configure a RADIUS test to send some or all of the different types of accounting messages — start, interim update, and stop — with the Send Start Message, Send Stop Message, and Send Interim Update Message checkboxes. At a minimum, start and stop messages must be selected in order to execute full accounting transactions with a timed accounting cycle.
You can choose to only send one message type in a test, which allows you to run one test to open accounting records on the SUT (only Send Start Message is selected) and run a separate test at a later time to close the accounting records (only Send Stop Message is selected). While the accounting records are open, you could also run tests that would only send interim updates. When a response is received for each request sent, the test case will automatically stop. If Ignore Accounting Response is checked, the test stops when all requests have been sent.
If you choose to send only one type of message, the following rules apply:
AAA Distribution Mode must be set to Dedicated. Round-Robin mode is not valid with single messages.
AAA Test must be set to Accounting Only unless start messages are selected.
Enable IP Address by AAA is not valid in a single message test; however, you can manually provision a Framed-IP-Address VSA.
Only a primary accounting SUT can be used, a secondary SUT is not supported.
A Capacity test activity must be used.
The stop message is treated as a final accounting and VSAs defined with Final Account Stop checked will be included.
Test cases that send interim update or stop messages must at least use a Starting Accounting ID that matches some or all of the open accounting records. Other attributes included in accounting messages such as user name, NAS IP address, or NAS ID may need to match the attributes used in the test case that started the accounting records depending on the SUT's configuration.
Started Time — The number of seconds to maintain the accounting session before sending a Stop message.
NOTE: When Started Time is 0 the account session does not perform multiple alternate started/stop procedure and the accounting stop message is sent only when test is finished. |
Range: 0 — 1,000,000
Default: 30
Stopped Time — The number of seconds to wait after stopping the MN's accounting session before starting a new accounting session.
Range: 1 — 1,000,000
Default: 30
Interim Update Time (RADIUS) — The number of seconds between transmissions of Accounting Request - Interim Update messages, and before the first message is sent after the accounting session is started. This timer is unique to each accounting session. Scheduled updates can be sent to the first sessions while the rest of the sessions are being started.
Range: 0 — 1,000,000
Default: 10
Interim Update Mode (Diameter) — Use the drop-down list to select the method for setting the Interim message interval time or to suppress Interim messages. The interval timer is unique to each accounting session. Scheduled updates can be sent to the first sessions while the rest of the sessions are being started.
Options:
No Interim — Interim messages are not sent.
Always Use Configured — Interim messages are always sent using the Configured Time interval.
Always Use Received — Interim messages are always sent using the interval requested by the SUT in the Acct-Interim-Interval AVP. If the value is 0 or if the AVP is not received, Interim messages are not sent.
Use Configured If Non Received— Interim messages are sent using the interval requested by the SUT. If the Acct-Interim-Interval AVP is not received, the Configured Time interval is used.
Default: Always Use Configured
Configured Time (Diameter) — The number of seconds between transmissions of Interim messages, and before the first message is sent after the accounting session is started.
Range: 0 — 10,000
Default: 10
Charging Type (Diameter) — From the drop-down list select the Event Based or Session Based as the charging type.
When you select charging type as Event Based, The Accounting-Record-Type AVP is set to Event Record.
When you select charging type as Session Based, the Start Time, Interim Time, and Stop Time are recorded.
Accounting start after — Use the checkbox to enable an accounting delay timer and enter the number of milliseconds in the field provided. The test will wait for the specified delay time before sending the Accounting Request - start message for an MN. The delay is applied to the first start message and all subsequent start messages.
