The PDN Gateway (PGW) provides connectivity to the UE to external packet data networks by being the point of exit and entry of traffic for the UE. A UE may have simultaneous connectivity with more than one PDN GW for accessing multiple PDNs. The PDN GW performs policy enforcement, packet filtering for each user, charging support, and packet screening. Another key role of the PDN GW is to act as the anchor for mobility between 3GPP and non-3GPP technologies such as WiMAX and 3GPP2 (CDMA 1X and EvDO).
PDN Gateway (PGW) responsible for Packet Routing and Transfer Functions, terminates the SGi interface towards the PDN. If a UE is accessing multiple PDNs, there may be more than one PDN GW for that UE.
The S5/S8 interface supports both GTPv2 and PMIPv6. The SGW as also referred to as a MAG with PMIPv6, and the PGW is called an LMA.

Measurements collected for this test case include:
Counters that record the number and types of messages sent and received
Number of messages discarded by the MNs while the test server was in an overload condition
Number of Binding Acknowledgements received by the MNs
Errors encountered during the test
When your test activity measures processing capability rather than rates, you can expand the scope of the test:
Add Data Traffic to the test to more closely simulate a live network using various wireless applications and protocols.
Encrypt Data Traffic with the optional Dynamic IPSec feature.
Defines the PMIP interface (S5/S8) between the SGW and PDN-GW using the PMIPv6 tab. PMIPv6 IPSec requires a Dynamic IPSec license and its use is optional. This enables the mobility entities the Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) and the Local Mobility Anchor (LMA), to dynamically setup tunnels and manage mobility for a mobile node within the Proxy Mobile IPv6 domain.
Measurements collected for the PGW Nodal test case are reported on the following tabs. Additional measurements may be available depending on the test activity and options executed with the test case.
