About gNB CU NSA / SA F1-U Interface Testing (Evolving)
The F1-AP interface provides an interface between the gNB CU and gNB DU.
The F1-AP tab is available in gNB CU NSA Nodal , gNB CU SA Nodal and gNB CU Node Test Cases.
In phase one (Release 19.0), the following are implemented:
- gNB CU NSA Nodal and gNB CU Node test cases can be used to test MME/CU
- Phase 1 supports option 3x NR (direct establishment of bearer between SGW and GNB-CU) - S1-MMS NAS (Dual Connectivity - Option 3x)
- A single (default) bearer per UE is supported in this phase.
- Both F1 signaling and F1 Userplane traffic between CU and DU are implemented
- This feature also tests X2 signaling interface between CU and M-eNB (required for NSA operation).
In phase two (Release 20.0), the following are implemented:
- gNB CU SA Nodal test case can be used to test 5G stand alone (SA) test on F1-C and F1-U interfaces.
- Modified gNB CU Node test case to support SA Mode.

Not Supported in Release 20.0:
- Split-bearer from gNB-CU to M-eNB is not yet supported in this phase.
- Multiple bearers per UE and Split bearers between CU and M-eNB will be supported in a later phase.
- SN based release (i.e. eNode Control Node) is not supported in Phase 1.
- New gNB CU SA Nodal + gNB CU Node emulation adds 5G support stand alone (SA) test, through F1-C and F1-U. Interfaces N2 (NGAP) and N3 (GTPU) become available for input. Nodes N2 to AMF and N3 to UPF and AMF SUT are available for input. RRC Measurements .
