Managing Test Server Meta Data

The Meta Data for TS provides a mechanism to store TS specific Test Case configuration information. On the Test Server Administration window, select the Meta Data tab to define information associated with the Test Server.

The Meta Data is a table of Name-Value pairs that you can define.

Name, Value Columns

You may edit each cell under the Name and Value column and enter any ASCII character.

New Row (Name-Value pair)

  • Click Add to insert a row.

  • Enter names and values and press Tab to insert a new row.

  • Enter information/type into the last row and a new row is automatically inserted.

You may enter PHYNAME.label to be used for TestNode selection displayed when you press F5, to display the Meta Data Viewer/Selector window. For example, you may associated MY Net1 TS (in the Name column) with My eth1 Label (in the Value column).

In addition, the associated name and label also displays in Test Nodes when you select the Physical Interface when you click ... or from the dropdown list.

NOTE: A row with labels <Enter Name> and <Enter Value> is always visible.

  • Select a row to Delete, Cut, Copy, Paste, move the value pair Up or Down.

NOTE: Delete, Cut, Copy, Paste, Up and Down is available when you select a row. Cut and Copy stores the information on the clipboard and Paste inserts inform from the clipboard to the Meta Data row.

NOTE:
  • The Apply button becomes available when you click Add to insert a new row.
  • Click Apply to store information on the TAS.
  • If you have added or edited only the TS Meta Data, clicking Apply does NOT result in a TS recycle.  Instead just the Meta Data is updated

TIPS:

From within the test case editor, press F5 to display the Meta Data Viewer/Selector window for assistance with completing a test case parameter.

The Meta Data Viewer/Selector window includes Meta Data within the context of the Test Case, that is, Test Server assigned and SUTs being used/selected.

  • Not all parameters support F5 function.

  • To fill a parameter value using Meta Data Viewer/Selector window:

  • Position the cursor in the relevant parameter.

  • Click F5 to display the Meta Data Viewer/Selector window.

  • Click the required TS or SUT, then the relevant Name-Value pair applicable to the parameter and click Select (or double click the row), to paste the value into the Test Case parameter.

NOTES:

  • The selected Name-Value Pair (e.g., associated PHY name and label) is copied to the clipboard when you click Select or you double click.

  • The selected Name-Value’s Value is pasted into the source field when you click Select button or you double click.

  • If the field format is different than the value being filled, an error displays. For example, you cannot paste an IP address into an Integer field, and you cannot paste a MAC address into a rate field, and so on.
