If you purchased the DHCP Server Emulation feature, you can use the DHCP Server Node test case as a virtual DHCP server in a test session. The virtual server provides simple IP address allocation services to any client or relay agent that directs requests towards it.
Add the DHCP Server Node test case to a test session containing a GGSN Nodal test case, and configure the SUT to direct DHCP request messages to the virtual server's IP address.
IMPORTANT: As with all co-resident test cases, when a DHCP Server Node test case shares the same test server as another test case the maximum activation rate and capacity of the nodal test case is reduced.
You can avoid these restrictions by running the DHCP Server Node test case on another test server. |
With each test case, you define:
The virtual server's IP address
The number of DHCP clients that will be supported
The type of addresses that will be allocated (IPv4 or IPv6)
Message options
The address pools and methods used to allocate addresses from the pools
Since the virtual server responds to requests rather than initiating transactions, no rates are defined within the test case. Response messages will be sent at the maximum rate possible.
Measurements collected for the DHCP Server Node test case are reported on the following tabs:
