MIP Authentication Parameters

These parameters are used on the MIP tab to define the following authentication extensions in the RRQ message:

NOTES:

  • An authentication method may be mandatory or optional depending on the test case. You can use one of the optional methods by checking the box for the authentication type.

  • When authentication is used, these values must be set to correspond to the SUT.

SPI

The Security Parameter Index identifies a security context between two peers.

TIP: By default, a 64-bit SPI is transmitted. If your SUT requires a fixed length other than 64 bits, use a hexadecimal format.

Range: N/A

Default: 1000 (0 255 are reserved)

Secret

The secret code to be used in the extension. You can use one of three formats to provision the code:

  • Static string values (default)

  • Binary keys (hexadecimal format)

  • A unique value for each MN (Auto-Increment format)

NOTE: When an incrementing format is used, the additional processing required will reduce the maximum number of MN sessions.

Range: N/A

Default: secret

Authentication Algorithm

The encryption algorithm specified in the extension. These options vary by test case.

  • MN-HA Authentication

Options: MD5 Authentication or HMAC Authentication

Default: MD5 Authentication

  • MN-AAA Authentication

Options: HMAC Authentication or Radius AAA Authentication

Default: Radius AAA Authentication

  • MN-FA Authentication

Options: MD5 Authentication or HMAC Authentication

Default: MD5 Authentication

  • Foreign-Home Authentication

Options: MD5 Authentication or HMAC Authentication

Default: MD5 Authentication
